About
FM Red Angus
Our Operation
Raising Cattle in Wyoming Since 1917
We are the 4th generation on our Wyoming Centennial Ranch, established in 1917 by Marilyn’s great grandparents in northeastern Wyoming with our grandchildren now the 6th generation owning cattle and involved in the ranching operation. We have been in the commercial Red Angus business for 30 plus years and have added a registered Red Angus herd to our operation. Our cows must calve unassisted, raise, and wean a calf without supplemental feed, breed back and do this in some very rugged terrain. We believe in using superior genetics with an emphasis on calving ease, disposition, and conformation. We have kept extensive records on both herds of cattle and replacements are chosen on records, disposition, udders, feet, conformation, and fertility. We utilize a 35-day breeding season with our yearling heifers and a 50-day breeding season on the mature cow herds. We calve in April and May to avoid the stress of our Wyoming spring weather which also saves on labor, feed costs, sickness, and death loss.

We raise a limited number of bulls for private treaty sale, striving for quality versus quantity. We only keep bull calves from those cows who meet our maternal priorities, have no white, and have good growth potential. We cull through the year for disposition or any other trait that might prevent them from being a great sire. They are DNA and sire verified with the GGD-LD test. We develop them on good quality hay, an 18% protein cake, and a good mineral program. Our bulls have all tested excellent in the spring with no failures to date. Drs. Jay and Brandi Hudson do our bull soundness and fertility exams typically in April.
